Things to Look Forward To

Dear Reader,

I have been a negligent blogger and I wholeheartedly apologize. While I could create a litany of lame excuses, I will not waste your time. Instead, I will promise to turn this blog into something that occurs regularly on a monthly basis instead of the sporadic drivel that I have been churning out for the past few years. Those of you who read my posts are awesome followers and with my regular posts, I hope to garner some other supporters.

In keeping with the theme of "things to look forward to", I am personally excited for the theatrical release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" later this month (okay, 7 days!). Besides being a true-blue rock mom, I am also a huge fan of anything that has to do with JK Rowling's bespectacled young wizard. Yes, I've read all the books (several times each), seen all the movies (too many times to count), and even been known to dress up like Hermione Granger for Halloween. It is amazing to me the impact that this literary phenomenon has had on popular culture in the past ten years. One thing that it has inspired is a music genre known as "wizard rock". These are folks who cleverly create songs inspired by Harry and the rest of his wizarding world. Some of the leaders of this music style include Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, Gred and Forge, and the Whomping Willows. One of my personal favorites is the husband and wife duo, The Blibbering Humdingers. They have a song entitled "Voldemort Made Me Crap My Pants", which is one of the funniest things I have ever heard in music. I am proud to say that I personally know these talented folks and encourage any Harry Potter fan to check them out at www.reverbnation.com/blibberinghumdingers or at www.facebook/blibberinghumdingers. Okay, if you are not an HP fan, but have a great sense of humor and are an adventurous sort, check them out. If you are in the Raleigh-Durham NC area this weekend, you can check them out LIVE with other awesome "wrock" bands at the Eva Perry Regional Library in Apex on Sunday, 7/10/11 at 6:00pm (until 9:00pm). I've heard that this an all-ages show, so bring the kiddos and let your Harry Potter flag fly! For more information go to www.wakegov.com/libraries/locations and click on the link for the Eva Perry library and then follow the events link on that page.

If I am over this sickness I have been harboring this week, I will be there--perhaps dresssed like Hermione....

Until next time, keep it on "7" (in honor of the number of HP books in the series and the horcruxes)...
