Check Another One Off the List
Wow! This summer is really shaping up to be an exciting one; first, I got to spend a week at the beach and now I've seen my 2nd concert of the season. Must be my lucky year as both concerts have been terrific and have not put a huge dent into my bank account. Let's see: I saw No Doubt on 6/8 (check out my review a few posts ago) and last night was the heavy hittin' double header of The Doobie Brothers and Bad Company. Do not think of me a wealthy woman since I have more rock shows to see this summer. We have been fortunate to procure some $10 lawn seats at our one of our major local venues here, which is operated by Live Nation. Additionally, Raleigh NC's 96 Rock (a great radio station, by the way) is once again sponsoring FREE summer concerts in their Downtown Live series. This can't be beat folks, as you pay nada to see such acts as Joan Jett, Charlie Daniels Band, Tonic, The Tubes, and Better Than Ezra. Past acts include Candlebox, Blind Melon (w/new lead singer), Everclear (I'm still kicking myself for not going to see that one), and Puddle of Mudd (yes, I went and yes, it was a SMOKIN' HOT show).
Thus, I encourage all of you in rock-blog-land to check out to see what live acts your hometown or closest metro area is hosting this summer at little or no cost. I am hoping there will be some other $10 tix available at some of the other concerts coming to Walnut Creek in Raleigh. I'll cross my fingers for all of us...

If you live in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and want to know more about Downtown Live, go to 96 Rock's website at http://www.96rockonline.com/
I apologize in advance for any typos, etc. I guess I am just a BIT excited as I am currently waiting to see my dear friend Kathy and her son, who I haven't seen in two years since they moved away. Good stuff...
Stay tuned for my reviews on the Doobie Brothers/Bad Company shows coming to a computer screen near you...here's sneak preview of my review: both sets ROCKED and really exceeded my expectations!
Until next time, keep it on "11"....
