Summer Can Be a Bummer...
I cannot believe I have so silent on the blogfront as of late--or 19 days if you are counting. I guess life has gotten in the way (as it usually does) of the good stuff...
You know, I just realized that this is the second post in a row that reveals a downward spiral in my mood. Maybe it's because I have come to the realization that summer is not as exciting as it was when I just a "suburban rock child". Perhaps it's the fact that the evil squirrels populating our backyard have completely cleaned out our garden's tomatoes that has put a chink in my solid positive outlook. Yep, it was sure going to be a season full of tomato sandwiches, tomato and fresh mozzarella salad, lovely green salads, and possibly some canned tomatoes to save for the winter. All we have to show for it now are some empty stems and half-eaten tomatoes littering the ground...
It is possible that my rock & roll soul hasn't been nurtured properly in the past few weeks. Here's the evidence:
1. I missed the recent 311/Ziggy Marley show in Raleigh because I simply couldn't find someone to go with. Pathetic, eh? Okay, don't answer that out loud as I am a very sensitive person...
2. The Aerosmith/ZZ Top concert at Walnut Creek originally slated for this month has been postponed due to Steven Tyler's leg injury. I'm sure I am not alone in wishing Mr. Tyler a speedy recovery. No word yet on the rescheduled dates, but I am hopeful that it could be soon. Can't wait to hear "Toys in the Attic" live, ya'll...
3. My planned night to hear Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in Raleigh's Moore Square didn't pan out. After working about 16 hours on Friday and about 8 more on that Saturday plus getting some family-related sad news, I was exhausted and my heart was hurting. I guess I have to save my silver-studded choker and black leather mini for another occasion...
Okay, maybe I don't have a leather mini and a silver-studded choker, but I thought they made me sound somewhat cool and perhaps hip. Of course, I don't know if that would make me sound hip as I'm not really sure what that constitutes these days. I would be hip in that outfit if it was still 1987...
Time to make a refreshing fruit smoothie and listen to a little AC/DC to soothe my soul this evening.
Until next time, keep it on "11"...
PS If anyone out in cyberspace saw the Joan Jett show in Raleigh last Saturday, I would love to hear a review. Gracias.
