What's Under Your Tree?

As it is December 25, I would like to wish all those who celebrate Christmas a very Merry one!

So far, my holiday is quite lovely and quiet--just the way I like them. Of course, I don't know how much longer it will stay quiet here as Santa and others have given me several gifts of music that will not stay in their plastic wrappings and cases much longer. I must have been a VERY good girl this year to receive the following rock-themed goodies under my tree:

1. "The Very Best of 311" CD--it's nice to finally have some 311 in my collection so I can crank up "Down" once I've had my morning cup of java and given my guys enough warning to put in their ear plugs...

2. Rush's "Gold" and "Retrospective 3" CDs--it's funny, but I have been talking and thinking about Rush so much lately, especially in complaining about the price of tickets to see them in Greensboro, NC and in trying to catch snippets here and there of their documentary "Beyond the Lighted Stage" on VH1 Classic. Speaking of the latter, see #3...

3. Rush's "Beyond the Lighted Stage" DVD--yep, I have been especially good this year! Can't wait to finally see this award-wininng documentary (it was the Audience Award winner at the Tribeca Film Festival) in its entirety.

4. "The Essential Journey" CD set--this includes 2 CDs of the original master recordings of their singles as well as a third disc with some live recordings, including "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Stone in Love" from 1981. It's all here, folks-from songs featuring both Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie on vocals to several cuts from the album that made me fall in love with them, 1981's Escape.

Keep it on "11" and have a rockin' Christmas...
